NIGHTWISH To Team Up With APOCALYPTICA For Homecoming Show
April 2, 2009Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH will play a special homecoming show at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki on September 19 to mark the end of the band's colossal "Dark Passion Play" world tour. Support at the gig will come from APOCALYPTICA.
NIGHTWISH's last concert at the Hartwall Arena in October 2005 was recorded and released as the highly successful "End Of An Era" DVD.
Fan-filmed video footage of NIGHTWISH performing the song "The Islander" on March 30 at Palabam in Mantova, Italy, can be viewed below. Photos of the concert are available on the news blog Musica Metal.
Multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley was the special guest star for this sold-out show, performing with NIGHTWISH the songs "Last Of The Wilds" and "The Islander" (which he also played on the band's latest album "Dark Passion Play").
"Dark Passion Play", the latest studio album from NIGHTWISH, has been certified platinum in Switzerland for sales in excess of 30,000 copies. Meanwhile, the band's "End Of An Era" DVD has achieved gold status in the country by shifting more than 3,000 units. The NIGHTWISH bandmembers were presented with the awards prior to their March 28, 2009 concert at St. Jakobshalle in Basel.
